NEWTON COUNTY, Ark. -- The Newton County, Arkansas, Sheriff's Office is investigating what they suspect is a fatal bear attack of a Missouri man at the Sam's Throne Campground.

According to Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler, they recieved a call on Thursday, Oct. 2, from someone who said his father was camping at the Sam's Throne Campground near Mt. Judea and hadn't been heard from in a couple of days.

When a deputy arrived at the campground, he found the campsite disturbed with signs of a struggle and injury, with no sight of the camper. The deputy also found drag marks that led to the woods.

Newton County investigators quickly initiated a search of the man. The camper, a 60-year-old from Missouri, was found dead several yards away from the campsite. His injuries were consistent with
