Your bathroom habits have a direct impact on your pelvic floor health. You may not think much about how you pee, but taking certain precautions when you head to the restroom can go a long way in keeping you healthy.

1. Don't Practice Kegels While You Pee

Kegel exercises can help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles ,but you shouldn’t start them while peeing.

“The ‘stop-flow’ maneuver was once taught as a test of pelvic strength, but repeated interruption of the urinary stream can disrupt normal reflex relaxation of the pelvic floor and lead to incomplete bladder emptying,” Omer Anis, MD , a urologist at Cleveland Clinic, told Verywell.

“Pelvic floor muscle training should be performed when the bladder is empty, not during urination,” she added.
