A Brown County Board member wants to turn the former Bank Mutual branch in downtown Green Bay into a parking lot.

County Board member John Van Dyck requested the Planning, Development and Transportation Committee apply for a demolition permit from the city, according to the agenda for the meeting .

The county bought the building , 201 N. Monroe Ave., for $1.1 million at the end of 2023. The building had been vacant since Associated Bank bought Bank Mutual in 2018 and closed the branch. The bank branch was originally built in 1963.

The property is south of Pine Street across from the Brown County Central library branch and next to Encompass Early Childhood Education.
