BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The days of paying state taxes in cash are ending in Louisiana.
The Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) announced its Baton Rouge office will stop accepting cash payments, effective Nov. 1. From that day forward, the office will only accept checks, credit cards, debit cards, and money orders.
Taxpayers can also make payments online on the LDR website .
According to officials, this policy change is part of an ongoing initiative to improve the efficiency of LDR’s payment processes.
The department’s regional offices in Alexandria, Lafayette, Monroe, New Orleans, and Shreveport have already implemented this policy.
