A routine call turned into a hive of chaos after a truck transporting thousands of bees overturned in Clark County’s Fairgrounds neighborhood, leaving firefighters in a sticky situation.
Clark County Fire District 6 and Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue responded to a call at 5:49 p.m. Thursday for a truck that had flipped upside down while transporting boxes of honey bees near the intersection of Northeast 179th Street and 50th Avenue.
Firefighters were able to rescue the driver and lone occupant, who was uninjured, Fire District 6 spokesman Dave Schmitke said.
The Clark County Beekeepers Association was called to the scene to rescue the bees. Dean Sprenger, the beekeeper called to the scene, said he was able to preserve the four hives, about 5,000 bees, within a half hour. The boxes that held
