TEMPE, Ariz. — It's not every day a Tempe Police Department detective investigates the theft of a couple of "rubber" ducks. Detective Cody Conklin did just that.
"That was definitely on a list that I didn't know I was going to check off," Conklin said in a video posted by the department.
When two "giant plaster 'rubber duckies'" were stolen from a Tempe apartment complex, Conklin, who works in property crimes, went to work.
Conklin said a man reached over a gate at the complex to unlock it and let two people in, who picked up the ducks and carried them to a truck. Surveillance video caught the entire act.
Through the videos, the detective was able to get a license plate and arrest the driver of the truck. The man allegedly admitted to helping take the ducks.
