Boulderthon returned for its fifth iteration last weekend, but an unexpected roadblock threw some runners off track.

A train ran through the race route on Pearl Parkway near Junction Place well into Boulderthon’s 10K race. In the days after the race, which stretched from downtown into the county, participants took to social media to express frustrations with the organization of the race and safety concerns. No one was hurt by the train, but it did delay 10K runners for a few minutes.

Sunday’s event had more than 15,600 registrants across a half-marathon, full-marathon, kids race, 5K race and 10K race, organizers said.
