Iam ashamed of my country. Three weeks ago, a violent incident shook our nation. Charlie Kirk, a prominent figure in far-right politics, was assassinated.

Kirk did not deserve a death sentence for speaking his mind.

I defend his right to voice opinions peacefully and abhor violence against all political parties. His death is a national tragedy, but let’s not canonize him.

I was a critic of Kirk.

He was inflammatory, combative, and often insulting.

He rarely answered questions directly, preferring to mock or mislead. He promoted racist theories and election lies that damaged our nation.

In MAGA America, an honest recollection of Charlie Kirk’s life is perilous. Admirers may punish me for exercising the same free speech they claim to defend.
