GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - As colder temperatures approach the Grand Valley, local charities are mobilizing to provide warmth to those in need.
The Grand Junction Salvation Army is running a campaign from Oct. 1 through Nov. 14 to collect jackets for disadvantaged residents. The Salvation Army aims to collect 600 to 700 jackets this winter season to help keep the community warm.
"We hope to collect probably 600 to 700 jackets this winter season to give out to people in our community that desperately need to keep warm," said Major John Tumey, the corps officer for the Salvation Army.
