SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV) -A Sun Prairie mother was arrested Saturday by Sun Prairie Police after her child went missing in September.

According to police on Sunday, September 21, the child left home and was reported missing around 7:30 p.m.

The next morning a person and Sun Prairie dispatcher spotted the child in Wetmore Park.

Officers found the child and said they placed them in safe care arrangements for their well-being.

The police department continued to investigate the reason why the child decided to leave home, and on October 2 police searched the child’s home.

During the search warrant, the child’s 49-year-old mother was arrested and is facing a felony charge of chronic child abuse.
