CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two men were cited after illegal gambling machines were found in an east Charlotte store, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says.

The investigation began in May, when Eastway Division officers were notified of potential ABC and gambling violations at Kilborne Mart on Kilborne Drive in east Charlotte.

Officers performed an ABC inspection of the business and found four sweepstakes slot gambling machines inside the business. During the inspection, the owner and permittee, Mussie Teklemarian Estifanos, 47, was told to remove the machines.

Months later, on September 12, officers received additional complaints about illegal gambling machines at the business. Officers later returned and seized the four machines and over $2,000 in U.S. currency. •
