South Carolina State University's campus was locked down Saturday night after a report of gunshots at a residence hall.

The Orangeburg university's Department of Public Safety sent our the following message to the community.

"SCSU Alert: Campus on lockdown following shots at Hugine Suites. Campus police investigating. Hugine Suites residents who are not in the complex report to SHM. Anyone in Hugine Suites stay put. Students in other residence halls return to your rooms. Off-campus residents, please exit the campus. "
