COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Mississippi State proved every bit the four-win team it was coming into Saturday’s blackout game in Kyle Field, but No. 6 Texas A&M’s defense made huge plays to secure a 31-9 Aggie win Saturday.

The Aggies move to 5-0 for the first time since 2016 with the win and hold a week of bragging rights after No. 9 Texas lost to Florida earlier in the day.

Why did A&M win? Linebacker Daymion Sanford and edge Cashius Howell were disruptive forces throughout the game, including the pair playing their part in a grab of Bulldog quarterback Blake Shapen’s arm and an interception on the same play.

The Aggie defense sent the tone early by stopping the Bulldogs on first and goal, starting on the 6-yard line, and forcing a field goal.
