DALLAS — Spirit Airlines will furlough over 50 North Texas-based flight attendants and over 220 light attendants statewide, according to a state filing.

The airline will furlough 51 employees based out of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Spirit Airlines said in a notice to the Texas Workforce Commission. Even more flight attendants, 173, will be furloughed in Houston, according to state filings.

The furlough will begin Dec. 1, according to the airline.

Spirit Airlines recently announced it will shrink its fleet by nearly 100 planes while the company undergoes bankruptcy restructuring, according to the Associated Press.

"This furlough is expected to be temporary; however, we are unsure as to the duration," the notice states.
