LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Former Louisville Metro Police officer Brett Hankison has been ordered to report to prison on Oct. 9 to serve his 33-month prison sentence for his role in the botched raid that ended the life of Breonna Taylor.

On Friday, Oct. 3, attorneys for Hankison filed a motion to extend his report date by 60 to 90 days. The motion said the additional time was requested so the court can rule on the motion for Hankison’s bond and so there’s time to present that motion to the Sixth Circuit if necessary.

The judge has not yet ruled on this motion.

Hankison was found guilty of using excessive force and violating Breonna Taylor’s civil rights on Nov. 2, 2024. He is so far the first and only officer convicted in the deadly raid. On Jul. 21, he was sentenced
