WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Special Olympics athletes from across Kansas wrapped up the Fall Outdoor Classic in Wichita on Sunday.
The event is one of the largest Special Olympics competitions each year, featuring state tournaments in golf and softball, as well as a new addition: a cornhole tournament. For many competitors, it’s an opportunity to pursue a passion after high school or try something new.
"It means the world to me. I grew up playing baseball. I didn't always get to play on the field, but when I come to an event like this, I always get playing time, and I encourage my other teammates to get playing time too," athlete Conner Jackson said.
In addition to the competition, athletes also connected with new friends from across the state through a dance and other social activities held
