HALEIWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two people were rescued off the shoreline of Ke Iki Beach Sunday.

At around 7:45 a.m., Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said it co-responded to two patients, a woman, 69, and a man, 76, who were swept out into the surf from the shoreline off Ke Iki Beach and had to be rescued.

EMS said both patients were swept underwater, and it’s possible they swallowed water.

EMS administered advanced life support and took both patients to the hospital in serious condition.
