ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Jury selection starts today for some of the former Marcy prison guards charged after the death of Robert Brooks.

Brooks was killed last December at Marcy Correctional Facility. Body-cam footage showed Brooks, who was handcuffed in an examination room, being beaten by officers. He was 43 years old and serving a 12-year prison sentence for assault.

Monday's trial is for three officers — David Kingsley, Matthew Galliher, and Nicholas Kieffer. All of them turned down another late plea offer.

Six out of 10 people accused have already pleaded guilty in the Robert Brooks case. The first was Christopher Walrath, who pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in exchange for a 15-year prison sentence.

All three defendants face the top count of murder. Stay with News 8
