Syracuse, N.Y. -- Another round of rain is expected this week in bone-dry Upstate New York, but it will only put a dent in the ongoing drought.
It will be a repeat of two weeks ago , when an inch of rain snuck in between extended dry periods.
An inch of rain is also expected again, on Tuesday and Wednesday. And like last time, the rain will be followed by drought-making dry weather for the foreseeable future, according to National Weather Service forecasts. Upstate New York is expected to remain drier than normal through at least the middle of the month.
Temperatures will cool off, though. The cold front delivering this week’s rain will also bring much colder air than we’ve been used to lately. Record-breaking temperatures in the 80s will yield to the upper 60s, which is typical of
