For former Oakland A's pitching great Dave Stewart, his message to anyone willing to coach youth athletes has remained consistent.

"What I always say is never give up on a kid," said the former Major League Baseball player.

However, from sideline parents to children on the field, on any given weekend, it is not difficult to find someone concerned about negative feelings and behaviors surrounding youth sports contests.

That is one of the motivating reasons why the Governor's Advisory Council for Physical Fitness and Mental Well-being set a goal to train 25,000 youth coaches through the 25x25 California Coaches Challenge.
