NATCHITOCHES, La. — The Natchitoches Parish Library (NPL) announced the return of its annual "Fine ForGIVING" program, running from October through December. The initiative offers patrons the chance to reduce their library fines while giving back to the community during the holiday season.

Through Fine ForGIVING, patrons can donate items in exchange for fine reductions, with all donations benefiting local organizations. The library also encourages people without fines to donate, noting that every contribution helps make a difference in the community.

Accepted donations and their corresponding fine reductions include:

Canned food (clean, unexpired, at least 8 ounces) : $2 reduction per can.

Pet food : $2 per can or $5 per 5 pounds dry.

New or gently used jackets : $15 reduction ea
