ALBANY, Ore. - A Sunday evening single-vehicle crash in downtown Albany resulted in significant damage to public infrastructure, but no serious injuries for the driver and passenger.
According to the Albany Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:28 p.m. on Oct. 5.The involved driver, identified as 47-year-old Sean Royce, experienced a medical emergency while driving a 2025 GM Hummer EV with his family. His wife managed to take control of the steering wheel, preventing a collision with other vehicles. The vehicle veered onto the sidewalk, striking multiple public fixtures before stopping after hitting a traffic signal pole. Remarkably, no pedestrians were injured, and the Royce family, including two young daughters, emerged unscathed.
