EUGENE, Ore.- Boys volleyball is officially joining the lineup of Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) sports. The OSAA Delegate Assembly voted Monday to sanction boys volleyball as an official activity, with the first season set to begin in the spring of 2026.
The move comes after two years of boys volleyball being classified as an “emerging activity,” a process that allows new sports to build participation before earning full sanctioning. Oregon now becomes the 26th state to officially recognize boys volleyball under its high school activities association.
Last spring, 68 varsity teams competed statewide, with Central Catholic (6A), Summit (5A), Estacada (4A), and St. Mary’s Medford (3A/2A/1A) winning their respective culminating event titles.
