SCHERTZ, Texas — A San Antonio man has been indicted for the murder of a 42-year-old woman in 2023, Schertz police say.

On May 26, 2023, police were called to the Palmera Apartments in Schertz to conduct a welfare check on Lisa Sipes, a mother of two. When they arrived, police found Sipes deceased in her unit. Due to the "suspicious nature" of the scene, an investigation was started.

Lisa Sipes was found dead in her apartment in May 2023 under what police called suspicious circumstances.

A person of interest was quickly identified. Aaron James Declouette, 62, was arrested on June 28, 2024 on a warrant for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
