LAURENS COUNTY, Ga. — A 15-year-old West Laurens High School student died early Sunday morning after a suspected drunk driver crossed the center line and hit his family's vehicle head-on, leaving his twin brother and mother seriously injured.
Isaiah Freeman, a 10th grader, was killed in the crash. His twin brother and their mother were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Friends and teachers at West Laurens High School are mourning the loss of a student they described as kind, respectful and beloved by his peers.
"I felt sick to my stomach. I was completely devastated," said Madison Baker, a close friend of Freeman. "Isaiah was a brother to me. He was somebody I could come to when I was upset. Somebody who would always be there for us no matter what."
