HEADLAND, Ala. (WDHN) — LaKinda Welch, the aunt of Brandon Welch, who lives over two hours away got a panicking call from her sister Friday morning that her nephew was murdered.

"It was shock, devastation confusion because what's going on like who did this and what happened," Welch said.

The shooting happened Friday morning at Greentree apartments in Headland.

Relatives say he was getting dropped off at home by his girlfriend and was heading into his apartment, until a car pulled up and that's when arguing started, which sadly escalated to gun violence.

"Timothy the father ran out there trying to diffuse it and make the other guy leave and he didn't and he started shooting and it just went from there and shots were exchanged," His auntie said.
