BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) — When a temporary state emergency housing program at the Zambarano cottages came to an end in June, Chelsea, who did not want 12 News to use her last name or show her face, said she had still not found a place to live.

"I feel like I let my children down big time, I feel like I failed them," she said.

Chelsea said she was one of 15 families chosen for the housing pilot program, which was created by the state back in October 2023.

The goal of the one-year program was to temporarily house families in the cottages on the old Eleanor Slater Hospital's Zambarano Campus while Tri-County Community Action helped them find long-term housing.

"I was told that there was going to be a lot of help, and that we were a priority because we had such a large family," she said.
