OZARK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Franklin County Sheriff has expressed strong opposition to the state's plan to use land near Charleston for a 3,000-bed prison, and it also being the possible site of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility.

In a more than four-minute video posted to Facebook on Oct. 5, Sheriff Johnny Crocker gave his opinion on the proposed prison at Mill Creek Mountain.

His post comes around two weeks after Crocker told KNWA/FOX24 that his chief deputy came across three ICE agents at the prison site while on patrol.

Crocker said in the video that there were four counties that wanted the prison, and Franklin County was not one of them.

"It was kind of shoved down our throat. Nobody wants to speak to us," Crocker said.
