NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) -- On day six of the government shutdown, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy was at the airport to talk about how the shutdown is affecting air traffic controllers, he said.
He ended up, though, making most of his comments following the visit statements of blame against the Democratic Party.
He said that it was responsible for the government coming to a halt, even though recent polling suggests that most Americans feel otherwise.
Around midday, Sec. Duffy visited the air traffic controllers at the Newark Liberty control tower. Because they've been designated as essential workers, meaning that they're required to work during the shutdown, they will not receive their next paychecks, as long as the shutdown continues.
