ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) - High pressure helps to continue the dry weather pattern in the Twin Tiers although a rain break will drop the temperatures. There is a burn ban in place for New York because of the dry weather.

Monday gave us well-above-normal temperatures across the region, but that warmth will subside and a cold front moves in Tuesday. That passing cold front brings a swath of heavy and steady rain with an embedded thunderstorm late Tuesday and overnight into early Wednesday morning.

After that, we are again very dry and noticeably cooler through Saturday. We will likely have widespread frost and even a few places coming in at-or-below freezing for several nights starting Wednesday.
