The KOAT Action 7 Newsroom was swamped with e-mails and calls over the alleged lynching of Jayvon Givan throughout the weekend to Monday, Oct. 6, 2025. As a result, KOAT did thorough research over the past days and spoke with the Albuquerque Police Department for confirmation regarding Gavin's death on Monday.

APD has ruled Givan's death a suicide. APD also confirmed Givan did not die recently, as social media reports claim, but he was reported deceased on Sept. 17, 2024.
