SHELLEY, Idaho — A 35-year-old woman and a two-year-old girl died following a two-vehicle crash in Bingham County on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Bingham County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened around 1:41 p.m. on Oct. 5 at the intersection of 1100 E. and 1300 N. in Shelley, following multiple 911 calls from emergency dispatchers reporting a vehicle submerged in a canal.

The sheriff's office stated that a 2011 Hyundai Sonata headed south on 1100 E. approached a two-way stop sign at 1300 N. The Sonata pulled onto 1300 N. in front of a 2022 Hyundai Palisade, which was traveling east on 1300 N.

The crash caused the Sonata to continue through the intersection, strike a power pole and overturn into a canal, according to the sheriff's office.
