ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - On Monday night, the latest chapter in an ongoing conflict here in Jonesboro escalated when a city official was removed from a council meeting by the mayor. Mayor Donya Sartor forced Jonesboro Downtown Development Authority Vice Chair Sanita Fox to leave after a tense exchange between the two lasting nearly 10 minutes.
Sartor was pushing back against a proposed conflict resolution from Fox.
Fox spoke before the council and stated that members of the DDA had expressed concerns via email. It centered around spending for two city celebrations, most notably Juneteenth, and whether lines were blurred between city and DDA spending.
