Pressure is intensifying on the federal government to coordinate a national response to allegations driving instructors sexually harassing and assaulting their students, with Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie telling Labor to "get off your arse".

More than 300 people told the ABC they'd been subjected to sexual harassment or assault by their driving instructor, with the majority just minors at the time they say they were abused by adult males.

The alleged incidents ranged from creepy comments and unwanted touching to molestation and attempted rape.

"I was 16 years old and he rubbed his hand across my chest to indicate which way to turn," one woman said.

"The instructor put his hand on my knee and said every time I made a mistake he would move his hand further up my leg," said anoth
