SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A proposed retreat center in Sioux City can move forward after Sioux City City Council members approved the action made by the Board of Adjustment on Monday night.

The city council voted with a three-to-one-to-one favor of the plan. Mayor pro-tem, Dan Moore, abstained, and Mayor Bob Scott voted no.

The vote was for a conditional use permit. The plan is to use a property on the 3500 block of West 32nd Street for retreats, which would be held on weekends and open from March through October.

Several residents spoke about the project during the meeting.

“The one thing that I did not understand was these leadership retreats,” said Sioux City resident John Fitch. “It didn’t make a lot of sense to me that they were going to do yoga outside of a bed and breakfast or a
