Approximately 6,000 Post Offices nationwide face permanent closure under a proposed overhaul . The news follows the government wrapping up its Future of Post Office consultation yesterday (October 6).
The consultation aimed to examine ways to 'strengthen' the entire Post Office network. Yet it indicated that more than half of the 11,500 Post Office branches throughout the nation have become financially unviable.
Branches thought to face the greatest threat include those in countryside villages and those running part-time operations. Locations that share their premises with other businesses or services may also be at risk.
