SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A helicopter crashed on Highway 50, near Howe Avenue, in Sacramento .
The Sacramento Fire Department said three people, who were on board a REACH helicopter, are in critical condition at the hospital. No bystanders were hurt.
A Sacramento Fire Department spokesperson said there was no patient on board the helicopter, just three crew members.
Sacramento Fire Capt. Justin Sylvia said the three crew members on board were a pilot, a nurse and a paramedic. They had just offloaded a patient at UC Davis and were flying back when the crash happened.
Highway 50 eastbound at 59th Street has reopened one lane since the crash. It's unknown when it will full reopen.
Drivers are being asked to use alternative routes.
