CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The City of Cedar Rapids is now calling on volunteers to take on the role of ‘Snow Heroes’ this winter. As part of the Snow Buddies program, volunteers would help people clearing snow from their sidewalks and walkways.
The program is aimed to help those who are older or have a physical impairment. The CDC says slips and falls in winter weather are extremely dangerous, the CDC also reports older people make up about 1 million hospitalizations every year because of falls.
By clearing the snow, snow heroes also help others who use the sidewalks.
