A 12-story tower with a rooftop sky lounge and sweeping views of Lake Michigan is nearly complete.

The $101 million Franklin at 11th Street Station has been rising since last year in downtown Michigan City, where it's been one of the biggest housing projects in decades and has been hailed as transformative by Mayor Angela Nelson Deuitch. The project is now nearing completion, Economic Development Corporation Michigan City Executive Director Clarence Hulse said.

The 431,693-square-foot mixed-use development will be topped out in another few months, Hulse said. The Franklin's 220 market-rate apartments will be leased out next spring.
