A cold front will sweep across central Pennsylvania Tuesday, bringing much-needed rainfall and marking a dramatic shift to autumn -like weather.

Residents can expect widespread showers and a significant temperature drop over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Rainfall will begin in western Pennsylvania this morning, gradually moving eastward throughout the day. Temperatures will range from near 80 degrees in southeastern areas to upper 60s and lower 70s in western and northern regions.

In the Harrisburg area , the high temperature is supposed to be 81 on Tuesday, and rain is expected to start after 11 p.m.

By Wednesday, a strong high-pressure system will dramatically change conditions. Expect breezy and chilly weather with decreasing clouds and much lower humidity.
