The Walker County Board of Commissioners is explaining the decision members made in June to begin banking with Regions.

The commission says the decision was made after Regions gave the county an “aggressive interest rate” that allowed the maximization of funds and prevented a property tax increase.
The partnership with Regions also saved the Walker County thousands of dollars in payroll services through the bank's connection with the company that provides them, according to the commission.
