ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The pedestrian bridge in northeast Forest Park is closed after being hit by a car.
The bridge, which spans Forest Park Parkway and the MetroLink tracks, was recently hit by a vehicle. Engineering inspections of the bridge’s superstructure concluded that it should be closed and removed.
The bridge is closed effective on Tuesday. Parts of Forest Park Parkway will close temporarily this weekend.
The pedestrian bridge’s demolition is tentatively set to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and be finished by 6 a.m. on Monday. During the demolition, westbound Forest Park Parkway will be closed from Kingshighway to DeBaliviere, and eastbound will be closed from Union to Kingshighway
According to city officials, they will work with Forest Park Forever to study pedestrian
