KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A family of a 16-year-old is fighting for justice after he was killed near a park over the weekend.

Ta’Kori Jones was shot and killed Saturday night near Bay Water Park. No one is in custody.

“I just want y’all to put the guns down,” said his mom, Renee Jones. “These teenagers they’re just dropping like flies. He didn’t even finish his school.”

The family said he loved to play basketball and was a role model to his younger siblings.

“He was going places; he was doing things, and I want to find out who killed my grandbaby,” said Brenda Johnson, his grandmother.

The family was getting ready to celebrate his seventeenth birthday next month.
