A woman who intentionally rammed her car into another vehicle, killing an 82-year-old Grimsby resident, continues to represent a significant threat to the safety of the public, according to the Ontario Review Board.
Sonya Sekhon, 46, was originally charged with first-degree murder following the February 2023 crash that claimed the life of Elaine Ladouceur.
The charge was later reduced to manslaughter and, in June 2023, the Stoney Creek woman was found not criminally responsible due to a mental health disorder and detained under an order of the Ontario Review Board at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
Individuals under jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board are subject to annual reviews.
A review hearing was held in July at the Hamilton hospital.
