Some short-term rental properties in Crystal Beach don’t have ample parking, a reality the Town of Fort Erie is trying to address.

To that end, town councillors have approved a pilot project to open up to 10 spots at a municipal lot on the south side of Erie Road between Oxford and Oakwood avenues. These spots will be reserved for short-term rental licence holders who pay $1,437 to receive a minor variance from the town’s committee of adjustment on top of an annual payment of $500 to hold one of the spots.

The town will provide winter maintenance for the parking spaces from Nov. 1 to March 1, a provision that has been added since councillors initially approved the pilot project in May.
