After 17 years of tree plantings, beach and river cleanups, ivy removals and education programs, Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington will close its doors at the end of the year. The shutdown is the result of delayed and reduced funding from multiple funding sources, said Sunrise O’Mahoney, executive director for the alliance.
“It’s been a mix. We’ve seen local cuts, as was announced and shared last year when the city of Vancouver made cuts to the program. Luckily, they did bring those back for this year, but we are continuing to see reductions in the dollar amount or delays in almost every single contract that we have,” O’Mahoney said.
