NORMAN — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium was dead quiet Saturday afternoon as the game against Kent State stopped while OU’s athletic trainers tended to Keontez Lewis.

The Sooner wide receiver was placed on a backboard and carted off in the first quarter after catching a ball that overshot the end zone and crashing hard into the brick wall at the north end of Owen Field.

It looked like a grave injury, but fortunately it didn’t take long for positive updates to emerge. Head coach Brent Venables said postgame Saturday that the initial tests on Lewis were “promising.”
