KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kalamazoo restaurant has reopened almost five months after a fire shut its doors.

The 600 Kitchen and Bar hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, celebrating its reopening after months of work to fix the damage caused by the fire.

Talking to News 8 Tuesday afternoon, Shelly Pastor, the operating partner for 600 Kitchen and Bar owner Millennium Restaurant Group, said it's been "so far so good," with tables coming in for lunch and staff members taking several calls.

"I think that this week we’ll just pick up steam throughout the course of the week," Pastor said. "I think by the weekend, hopefully we'll be in full steam ahead."

The restaurant at 600 Michigan Ave. near Harrison Street had to shut down back in May, after a fryer overheated and started a fire. P
