Former Kern County Supervisor Zack Scrivner is seeking to avoid jail time on the basis of his mental health.

Scrivner filed a motion for a mental health diversion in his criminal case.

The backstory: The California Department of Justice charged Scrivner with three felony counts of child abuse and two felony counts of possessing assault weapons in February. • Those charges came after an incident at Scrivner’s Tehachapi house in April 2024, when he was stabbed in the upper torso by one of his four children.
