OSCODA – Karyn Ray, Tammy Duby and Susan Jackson will be hosting a ribbon tying and unity candle lighting ceremony in Oscoda early next week.

The event, which is being called Unity and Freedom of America, is set to take place on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6:30 p.m. It will be held at Oscoda Beach Park, which is situated downtown at the end of River Road, just off of US-23.

Anyone from the public can come and participate in tying colored ribbons around flagpoles and lighting a unity candle. There will also be poster boards on display, which will explain what Unity and Freedom of America is.

Ray stated that due to the hate that she and others have seen in the country, she hopes that this event can bring people and communities together.
